Countertop in solid wood

There is a naturally occurring amount of acid in oak that can have an antibacterial effect. This makes the solid wood worktop a healthy and hygienic choice for your kitchen.

Dark spots occur if the surface is exposed to high heat or moisture. It is always a good idea to use pads and wipe up moisture when it comes into contact with the surface.

Regular cleaning

The best way to clean a solid wood worktop is to use a wet cloth. Household detergents should be avoided as they can dry out the wood.

Wood cleaners can be used for deep cleaning and treatment with oil should be done as a proactive measure to improve the resilience of the material.

If your countertop is damaged, you can sand the surface and repair the unwanted defects.

Scratch resistance

Minor scratches cannot be avoided and must be accepted as a natural part of having a wooden product.

Some scratches can be removed with fine sandpaper.

Heat resistance

Always use coasters as wooden worktops are not heat resistant.

High heat can result in discolouration of the surface or cause cracks in the joints between the glued slats.
